A 2017 LGBT History Month Icon and graduate of Philadelphia’s Central High School, Alain Locke is considered the father of the Harlem Renaissance. He was the first African-American Rhodes Scholar, a writer, an educator, and a philosopher of race and culture. He earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University.
