This panel focuses on the increasing visibility of transgender individuals and the difficulties they face in the movement for equal rights.

Brent Bilodeau is Director of the Office of LBGT Concerns at Michigan State University. A scholar whose research interests include transgender student identities, he is the author of "Beyond the Gender Binary: New Perspectives on Transgender Student Identity Development" published in the Journal of Gay and Lesbian Issues in Education. |

Leslie Townsend is the author of an autobiography, Hidden in Plain Sight. She was recently featured in the Logo Channel documentary "Beautiful Daughters." The University of Pennsylvania honored her accomplishments by establishing the Leslie Townsend Fund to benefit transgender students. |
