The presence of online blogs, short for "web logs," is changing the face of mass media, altering the way people obtain information and news on current events. As the "blogosphere" expands, mainstream news outlets are beginning to present news stories to the general public that were originally published on blogs. This year's Media Panel examines the rise of the blog as the new media sensation.

Katherine Sender (Moderator)
Professor, The Annenberg School for Communication, University of Pennsylvania

Katherine Sender is an assistant professor at the Annenberg School for Communication at University of Pennsylvania and is a published expert on GLBT media and marketing. She has also produced, directed, and edited several documentaries, including "Off the Straight and Narrow: Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, and Television."

 

Jeff Gannon
Conservative blogger; former White House correspondent

Jeff Gannon is a syndicated columnist for the Washington Blade and publishes his own personal political blog, JeffGannon.com. Gannon is also a former White House correspondent for Talon News.

Anne Gordon is the Managing Editor of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Gordon has previously served as editor for newspapers in Denver and Cleveland.

 

Michael Rogers
Publisher, blogACTIVE

Mike Rogers is the publisher of blogACTIVE and PageoneQ. He has earned a reputation for outing closeted Washington insiders who work against GLBT civil rights. Formerly, Rogers worked for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force and Gala Choruses.
